I love the graphic quality of linocuts and woodblock engravings. They really act as a discipline in planning out exactly where each inked area is as opposed to the negative space in a composition.

This one really came out well, Ona. Are these seperate printings, or are the four images printed on the same block as a set? They are all wonderful, but I really like the lower left image of the person with hands over his head. Perhaps it's the way that the hair comes out of that nice shadow behind and the way that you rendered the face in shadow, also.

Keep up the fine work!

:D

Thank you!

They were carved out of 4 different blocks of lino, but they were always meant to be printed together.

It's interesting that you like bottom left one. The original is a photo I took of my brother and of all 4, this is the one I would redo if I could. Sometimes when starting a new project (usually if it is in a medium I hadn't used in a while), it takes me a little while before settling into a style or technique. That's why strokes on the hands and face is so different from everything else.

I made this for my final highschool exam project. The theme, like everything else that year, was AIDS.
